How to recover the android lying down with red triangle and exclamation mark

I have just got a Sony experia and i was topping it up then it needed updating, it was half way through updating and the hazard symbol appeare. I have tried rebooting it with the pin and holding the lock button and the volume down button and everything there possibly could do but I can't turn it on too reset it that way and I don't know what to do.

There's a good chance that he phone was rooted before you started the process? Did you get it new, or second hand purchase?
