I've got the same problem, the wifi on my S5 continues to scan for new networks despite the fact that I'm already solidly connected to my home network. This can't be normal, no other wifi device I own does this. All other devices once the wifi is setup and connected it stops scanning. To add a new wifi connection the user needs to initiate a scan, (by the way in S5 marshmallow wifi options there's even a button for "Scan", which does that very thing... Initiates a scan. So why does S5 Marshmallow just keep scanning and scanning? Stupid! Not to mention I had to disable smart switch Wi-Fi to attempt and have a more stable connection, (Wi-Fi kept disconnecting and reconnecting moments or minutes later, or sometimes not at all). Additionally, wifi would disconnect entirely after 20 minutes or so of not using the phone. Also notify for new networks and accurate location had to be disabled, to try and stop battery drain. This is soooo goofed up. None of my older androids had these issues, from my exhibit 2 running on gingerbread, to my S4 running on KitKat 4.4.4 none of these phones or operating systems had the wifi problems of Marshmallow. Wireless Windows PC's / tablets and Mac computers and tablets don't do this... Why does Android? The perpetual Wi-Fi scanning and disconnecting reconnecting is a ridiculous step backwards.
