Why is the sound coming from the speaker instead of my earphones?

Hello everyone, I'm Valeri and I'mz 20 y/o.

I'm using a Samsung Galaxy J5 and it's about a month old. My problem is, as the title says, that when I try to play voice messages sent via facebook's messenger, they play through the phone's speaker instead of the earphones, although they're plugged in. When the message is playing and I press the volume keys, it says the sound is coming from "volume during conversation" instead of "medias". Yesterday it was working fine (and coming through the medias souns) and today I found out it doesn't. I think I saw the messenger app updating, could be that, but I thought I'd ask.

What I tried: restarting the phone.

Maybe sticky switch in the jack, plug and unplug a few times. This is assuming that this happens while playing other media etc, not just in that one app.... If it's the app, try force stopping the app itself and clear it's cache....
