email does not sync automatically

[AC Question]

I'm no sure if this is an issue from a recent update but my emails no longer sync automatically. I've checked all the sync settings and they are all on but for some reason it says master sync disabled.
I've looked through all the settings possible and can't work it out. My housemate has the same problem.

I have an S5 Mini.
