Should my phones networkmode be set to auto, gsm/umts, lte/cdma, or cdma

Trying to find out if there's a certain network mode it should be on to work to it best standards

Which mode the phone should be on depends on the phone and the carrier it's being used on. Without those things, the question can't be answered. It's like asking which bullet to use in a gun. What kind of gun?
