AC Question

Hey guys so i recently bought a otg cable and was trying to get my Samsung Galaxy Note 5 to read my WD hdd. So i downloaded ES File Explorer and was trying to get it to read it. The problem is that it is able to detect the hdd but when i click on it, it fails to open the file. I've tried it with my pendrive and it seems to work fine. And i've also reformated my hdd to exfat.

Is the HDD powered using an external power adapter? If it's not, it's not getting enough power from the phone to run the drive. A flash drive doesn't need to spin a motor.

In my experience even the Hard disks with USB Power don't get detected on most phones. So likely that your hard disk with external power supply will get detected. I don't have a HDD with external power supply. Has anyone out there been able to connect HDD with external power supply to Smartphones via OTG?

Well, I found a solution. What I found on the internet was that instead of reformating the hdd into exfat format. Just let it remain as NTFS and download paragon ums and use it to mount the hdd. Then download total commander to access files in it.
