My phone's been stolen but it can't receive calls or texts. How do I recover it?

A

AC Question

Earlier today I realized my phone had been stolen and recalled to people whispering and staring at me as I retrieved my backpack earlier following gym. I'd placed my phone in the backpack, and after getting home I noticed my phone was gone and recalled the event.
I've tried using the Android Device Manager, but the phone cannot receive calls or texts, and it must currently be off.
Is there any other way the device can be locked?
I cannot go to my carrier.

Welcome to Android Central!

The best bet is to call your carrier and have them blacklist the IMEI.
