Pictures sent via text message are distorted

I have a Galaxy S7 edge that I bought a week ago. Images look fine on my end, but come through distorted, discolored, half gray, or pixilated to the recipient.

I have tried on both wifi and data with no change

Sounds more like the JPG file is getting corrupted, which is normally a hardware failure problem.
Do you have any example images you can link us to so that we can see what you are seeing?

That's a corrupted file - the whole bottom part is missing. Make sure the file is 600KB or smaller - your carrier may not be compressing larger files.
