AC Question

I posted a question earlier on this page, "how can I write to 64GB sd card on galaxy S4 GPE with Android 5.1?" is the title of the thread, I don't see a thread number.

Responses minimally helpful, I am having trouble implementing some of their suggestions. The nature of the replies lead me to think the replies come from other users trying to be helpful. (I appreciate all your suggestions). But after reading the replies, I get a sense that some of them are offered as if ".... well this is the way Android is supposed to work....." was in the responders mind but unstated.

I have searched for an OFFICIAL source of help, for example from someone connected with the developers. I've not found that anywhere. Is this forum an "OFFICIAL" source of help for Android?

We are Android users and enthusiasts, who are happy to try to help, but we are not officially supported by Google. I'm not sure what they think of us. There are some remarkably knowledgeable members among us.
I recommend joining as a member so that you can continue posting in your original thread and respond to the members who tried to help.

As belodion has stated, this is a community of volunteers just trying to help people. Not all problems are solvable to the requestor's satisfaction... and some are unsolvable, and it is sometimes just because that's how android works.

Google, manufactures, (and in most cases, the carrier) are the ones that develop the Android software for your phone, depending on your phone vendor. There really is no "Official" Android developer unless you want to look past all the other people who have their hands involved in the released software your phone runs... in which case the "real" official dev would be Google.

The thread you referenced is tagged, just like this one is. If you right-click on the "#1" at the top of your thread, you can copy the link location and paste it anywhere. Here it is...

The problem may be (again, this is someone who knows, but without having the phone in my hand, I can't tell you that this is definitely the cause) that with later versions of Android (since 4.4.2, I seem to remember) apps can't write to folders owned by another app. IOW, if you're trying to save in an existing folder it won't work. Have the app create a folder on the card and it should save to it.
