Chrome on Android doesn't type in search bars?

AC Question

Hey guys!

I'm having a really, really strange bug. This is on a OnePlus 3, running Android 6.0.1, with the most recent version of Chrome for Android.

The bug involves the search bars of websites. The same issue occurs in youtube, and is more frequent there.

When I'm looking at a google search, and I want to change my search or write a new one, I tap on the search bar as normal - the cursor shows up, I can select words, delete them, so forth, as much as I like.

When I go to actually type, however, nothing happens, OR 1-3 characters show up and then nothing happens as I keep typing. What's actually happening, I found out, is that the cursor is somehow randomly being MOVED to the URL bar and is finishing typing there.

This is, obviously, really annoying... and the part that drives me crazy, is that it's NOT consistent whatsoever. Sometimes I can go three searches without it happening, sometimes it'll happen six times in a row.

The only clue that I have as to what's going on is that this does not happen in incognito mode, ever.

Anybody have any ideas as to what the issue could be?

Thanks,
Darksable.

Welcome to Android Central! Does this persist after clearing the app cache and data from Chrome in the Settings>Apps menu? Are you using the stable Chrome app, or the beta?

Well gosh, now don't I feel silly. That appears to be all it took - I'll do as much as I can with it to try and replicate the error, but that appears to have done it.

Thanks so much!
