security of screen pin password

i am using android mobile version 6.0.unfortunately my mobile was missing.i was used screen PIN password.
if any unknown person use factor resetting whether mobile works is normal?
how to protect my missing mobile?

They won't be able to reset it due to FRP. You can try tracing it with Android Device Manager. From there, you can wipe your device, if you wish
