Is there anything I should do before using new launcher?

Long time lurker, first time poster.

I've been an android user for 5 years now, but I've mostly just used the stock launchers that have come with my phones (og moto droid, galaxy s3, LG G3, Axon7). Is there anything I should know before switching to a new launcher?

I'm a pretty basic user that uses my phone to listen to music, light gaming and watching videos. I don't root or do anything outside the box like that. I think I have my phone backed up by Verizon Cloud, which comes with my wireless service.

Is there a way to back up my phone to how it is currently set up so it will revert to current setup if I don't like the new launcher? I just purchased Nova Launcher Prime as it was on sale for $0.99. Any tips or tricks will help. Thank you!

Nothing. The new launcher won't affect the current setup.

Yes. If you make the stock launcher default, it will revert to how you had it when last used. Nova is a great launcher, you can customise to your heart's content!
