How to hide contacts on Galaxy J5?

Hi. I have some people in my contact list that I want to keep but don't want to see them on my list in the contacts app. In the display options I have an option to show only contacts from phone/ google account / SIM card, and it seems there's an option for a custom list where I can choose specific groups, but it doesn't seem to work: No matter what groups I select, it's still showing me all my contacts.
Is there a way of showing only the contacts I'm interested in?

If you export the contacts you want to hide to sim or sd card, then select contacts to display in device only.....?
