Asus ZenPad Z380: Bluetooth Stability

I have a Mass Fidelity Relay component connected to Line In on my Carver stereo receiver. The component is Bluetooth discoverable.
I use MediaMonkey on my ZenPad to connect over Wi-Fi to my digital music library which is on a Windows computer. When I play an MP3 file on the ZenPad which is Bluetooth connected to my stereo, the connection is unstable with sporadic, but regular, dropouts. The MP3 play fine on the ZenPad without Bluetooth connected, so I know the problem isn't the Wi-Fi.
An iPad Pro has no dropouts at all, performing a similar function.
Any suggestions?
