How do I restore and old file version

I have Asus Zenpad10 and use it to write Word documents. Recently I accidentally saved an older file over a newer one. The old file was on a removable usb memory and the new one on the tablet. Is there a way to restore the older file version? I don't use a cloud, the autosave on Word app saves the files directly on the tablet.

Unfortunately, there is no "system restore" functionality as in Windows. With Android, once a file action is taken it's pretty much "written in stone".
