Why is my internet data usage so high?

Hello everyone,

I bought a sony Xperia about a month ago. I did uninstall Apps I deemed not useful for my work. However, the internet bill is so high that my office and I want to dispute. What did I do wrong? and how can I ensure the data usage is kept at minimal?

I always use wifi connection at home and office and rarely connect to mobile data. I even have a monthly plan yet the amount still goes up. Any advise, comment is highly appreciated.
