AC Question

Battery is at 100% but will only work when plugged in. Had similar issues 5months after leasing phone. I returned it to Samsung for repair. They "repaired" and returned. Another 5 months later and same issue.

Welcome to Android Central! Does it actually power off completely when you unplug it? Or is it just that the screen is turning off very quickly?

As soon as I unplug the charger the screen quickly turns off. I've ran the battery diagnostic and no error message. It's frustrating because I can't get Samsung to fix this problem.

Ok, so when the screen turns off, can you turn it back on with a simple press of the Power button? Or does it seem like the entire unit shut down?

I plug in charger and turn it back on with a hard press of the power button. Sometimes i will leave off to charge to full 100% . There are times where battery will charge quickly and other times takes hrs to charge even 2%. A few days ago it worked fine for about 2 days then I used the camera and it was lights out.

Additionally, about 1hr ago I installed the latest software update. Noticeable change is the phone, while plugged in, shuts off and immediately reboots.

Thank You! I'll try your suggestions. It is just over a yr old so no longer under warranty. I was having the same issue a few months after I got the phone. I sent the phone back to Samsung and they repaired and returned. Silly me for thinking it was a long term fix.

This probably won't be the case, but maybe you could check with Samsung to see how long their repairs are guaranteed for.

I had the same problem a few years ago with an HTC. It would show battery at 100% but only work when plugged in. Turned out to be a hardware problem, a bad connection to the battery. Either a bad cable or problem with corrosion on connector I never fixed it.
