How do I take off private mode if I forgot the pattern

I want to hide my stories but it says I have a pattern and I forgot it

Welcome to the forums. If you can remember your Google account info, a factory reset may clear the private mode, but I've never used it. Knowing which phone and OS version you have would be helpful.
