why are my notification not coming through when I get a text?

when I get a text my phone will not notify me.

What app are you using?
What OS are you using?

A high percentage of the time if the notifications simply stop, there is a setting that has been changed. Have you played around in your settings lately? Have you installed an app that plays music or sounds? Do you have the vol up? I realize that it sounds simple, however pushing the vol+ button does not always increase the phone volume. If you do it while an app that plays sound is open you may only be affecting the sound vol and not the notification or phone volume. Press the vol+ button then touch the drop down menu and check that all volumes are at max, or navigate to settings menu and find it under sounds. This assumes that other apps have sound.
