my samsung s3 was not turning on. if it turns on it quickly turns back off

hi, i was having trouble turning on my samsung s3. it usually gets stuck at the logo screen. if somehow after several attempts it turns on (normal/safemode) it quickly turn back off within a min or so. i just need sometime to transfer some important data from my phone to my laptop..please help

Worth trying a good - not necessarily new - battery, do you think?
