Should I root my phone?

[Android Central Question]

I accidentally deleted some videos off my phone and I loaded the dr.fone program to recover them but it says it can't recover them without rooting my phone. I am not super savy or interested in the technology and I'm afraid that doing so will enable me to really mess up my phone but I really want the videos back. So I'm asking advice on whether or not I should root my phone and whether or not I can "turn it off" after I recover what I need? Thanks

Definitely not. Don't go there! There are some file recovery tools for your pc, they may get your videos back.
Do not root! You will almost certainly brick your device!
