Is there any messaging app that will display contacts last name first?

I have search all over the internet for an answer. I have google contacts. I set the contact order to be last name first. Every message app I have tried, displays the contacts first name first. Reviews don't address this issue, but there are lots of forums complaining about not having the sort order option in the message app.
