1/3 of my android galaxy j3 screen is black and has a few lines over it when turned on.

Firstly, I did not drop the phone. It was working this morning before I went to the gym. 10 minutes later, when I check the time on my phone when I'm at the gym, I can only see around 1/3 of my actual screen. The touch functions of the phone still work fine, but this is still a huge inconvenience as I don't know what caused this problem or how to fix it. It was raining on my walk to the gym, but my phone was in my pocket. I tried taking out the battery, charging it, etc. and nothing worked. What could have caused this and how do I fix it? Thanks.

Either rain got into the phone or you hit the phone against something. It has to go to a repair shop for evaluation. If the water indicators are red you need a new phone, otherwise you need a new screen.
