Actually disabling apps does remove the app updates. I have hangouts preinstalled. If I click disable, it will also delete all hangouts updates. If I reenable it, it will prompt me to update hangouts to use it again.Disabling apps doesn't remove updates - unless the button is labeled "remove updates", so no. (And it's storage, not memory - memory is RAM, and an app only uses RAM when it's loaded from storage into RAM. But Android handles RAM usage, so you don't have to worry about "using too much".)
