Need help with Outlook calendar notifications

I recently switched from Windows Phone to Android (OnePlus 5T) and need help with Outlook. I have both email and calendar as my default programs. All notifications are set to ON. I get email notifications just fine, but nothing for calendar events. On my Windows Phone, if an event was happening that day it showed up on my lockscreen. Is there a way to do this for Android? I added an Outlook calendar widget to my home screen, but it's big and shows at least 3 days at a time. I only want what's happening for the current day. Can anyone help?
