Android Central Question

I appreciate this is the other way round to what most people want to do, but let me explain. I have an android phone which is used to monitor hardware. To do this it connects to the device by wifi. Because of this, the wifi is not connected to a router and therefore cannot access the internet via wifi. The same phone also takes set time photos of hardware instruments. I have an automatic ftp upload app, but because wifi is turned on it tries to upload using the wifi connection.

Is there a way to upload photos over mobile data and ignore the wifi connection?

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

The upload app would have to be written to ignore the internet connection and use the data connection directly even if there was another internet connection. (Bluetooth file transfer would work, if you could have another device upload anything received by Bluetooth to the FTP server [by wifi, of course, unless you had a data account for the device and had wifi turned off].)
