Missing photos on S9

Photos on my gallery are missing from the Google pictures app. How can I transfer from gallery to Google photo app?

You may need to grant the Photos app permission to see your photos. Go to Settings -> Apps -> Google Photos. Tap Permissions, then make sure it had access to Storage (it may need access to the camera but I'm not certain on that point - I don't use Google Photos).
