Any time my screen is on, especially when snapchat is open, the notification sound goes off but there is nothing to be notified about. My phone just updated yesterday so I suspect it has something to do with that.

Welcome to Android Central! Is it the default notification tone, or does it sound different? Does it go away if you turn off NFC?

I'm having the same problem. It's the default notification tone. And no it doesn't go away if the NFC is on or off.

Are they occurring at regular intervals, or is it totally random?

It's a location notification. Two quick pulses (and my default notification sound) and the notification pops up from System UI "Finding location", followed by two more quick pulses and another notification from System UI "Location found".

It's especially bad when Snapchat is open. Just comstant location notifications every 2 seconds.

This easy fix is to just turn off your location. Otherwise I don't know how to change this. It just started since the recent OS update I installed last week

But if I turn off my location I can't use my maps. That is an unnecessary hassle.
