Samsung photo editor inherited file dates from master

The Samsung photo Editor generates new files ok, but is there a way for the date of these new files to be set to the date of the original photo?

Total Commander will let you change the date of a file. Long-press the file, choose Properties, then change the date and Apply.

Sounds like your picture viewing app is looking at the file dates when it should be looking at the image dates inside the EXIF data. The file dates do not mean anything to an image.
