I want to customize the on off button on my phone so that when I press it it turns the screen off then instigates a time delay before requiring my password.
So I have set the display to turn off after a set period of inactivity and once the screen has gone off, if I press the on/off button it comes on again not requiring a password. But if I turn off the display with the on/off switch it immediately requires a password. I would rather manual switch off behaved as automatic switch off does.

There's a setting in Security to immediately lock the screen if you turn it off manually - turn that off.
