Android Central Question

Since yesterday - but much worse today - I have been receiving things that look like text messages from "women with plausible names". The alert on my lock screen shows "12(dot)mobilenotices(dot)site".

If I open any of them, they are NOT text messages, because they open my browser window and launch various adult websites with different URLs (I think) but all related to something called wellhello(dot)com.

When I look in my text messages to see if I can block them there, there is no sign of them.

How can I stop/block these?

My phone is a Nexus 5, probably about 4 years old now and although it does run short of space for updating apps, it has never given me any trouble before. It's not rooted, or anything like that, I wouldn't have the first clue how to!

Welcome to Android Central! You probably installed adware or malware alongside some other app, which is serving up those fake text notifications. Uninstall apps one by one until the problem goes away.
