Android Central Question

I just upgraded from an S7 Edge to the new Galaxy S9 Plus.

Everything appears to have come across correctly, to include my notes.

I can search for the Samsung Notes application, and it finds it. I can also open it, after I find it. But, there is no icon anywhere, on any of the desktops.

How can I get the Samsung Notes application to display the icon on one of the desktops?

Welcome to Android Central!

Open the app drawer (depending on how you've configured your homescreens, that requires a swipe-up from the bottom of the screen or a tap on the icon that looks like a grid of dots). Scroll through the list of installed apps (which may not be in alphabetical order) until you find the Notes app. Press and hold it, then drag it to the homescreen of your choice.
