Android Central Question

I'll be traveling internationally and I have a cellular provider that relies on other carriers' towers. I was told that the roaming data charges would be very high, but I'd also want to be able to email people back home. I would like to only use WiFi when traveling and otherwise have no emails auto updating and no app updates. What do I turn off on my phone to prevent all cellular data from being used? Please walk me through what to do in settings. I suspect there might be several settings to change to accomplish this.

Welcome to Android Central! Which phone do you have? The setting to turn off mobile data can be in somewhat different menu locations, depending on the phone. You can also find it by going to your system settings and typing "mobile data" in the search bar.
