Android Central Question

Lite the enormously long header explains.

I new on Android. I am used to the simple interface of iOS where I just swipe left or right to go go forth or back in whatever program. I know there is an app for Android that does this to your Android phone, but I cantona remember it's name. Any suggestion?
Appreciate it much :)

Tap the Recents button - the aquare one to the right of the Home button. that's all your recent apps, and you can choose the one you want. In Android P, the next version, that icon will turn into 2 round arrows, and it will give you a screen of apps next to one another that you can do exactly what you want. (Now I know where they got that idea from.)

Welcome to Android Central! Which phone do you have? If it has Nougat or above, just double-tap the Recent Apps button to quickly toggle back and forth between your last two apps.

For gesture control within an app, try Gesture Control.

Thanks for both answers. I am picking up a new Huawei P20 Pro today :). Last time I used the app I try to find I had a Galaxy S8 for just a brief time.

By the way... Thanks for answers, but it wasn't exactly what I meant. On iphone you can use gesture controls like swiping your finger right on the screen, and then you go one step back within the same app. Have I read am article on chrome and want to go back to the front page,I'll just swipe right.

Right, I realized that soon after I typed the first part of my reply, which is why I added the bit about the Gesture Control app. I haven't tried it myself, but it looks like you can at least set up a gesture for Back, which should let you go one step back in an app.

Maybe it's just me but tapping the back button that's staring right at you seems to be faster than swiping.

Anyway, try the aforementioned gesture controls app.

Android is moving to gesture controls it seems in next iterations, but as of now, there's still no global deeply intergrated solution that won't cause any possible conflicts yet AFAIK.
