I bought a unlocked galaxy edge s7 in Japan, and am now in the USA trying to get it to work. Got a SIM from AT&T, and the data works fine, but it won't send or receive any SMS messages or calls. From my research, I've found that the problem is this "assisted dialing" feature, but the normal place where the option to turn this off is, is not there. I assume that this option has been put under this stupid app the Japanese carrier has installed that is listed in the "Call settings" part called "au service" but I can't access it without logging into their network.... Which obviously I cannot do.... So now, I'm hoping to be able to root the device and disable it that way. Anyone know how to find this option and fix it through rooting the phone? I'm running Android 7.0 The model number is SCV33.
