Android Central Question

My Google Maps started behaving strangely. It is now popping up on my screen while I have other functions open, texting, Facebook, etc. Over-laying everything else.

Each time it displays an address (the same one) that I dont know.
If I try to delete that location it just keeps coming back.

This is an un-modified Pixel 2 running Oreo 8.1

How can I get it back to normal without wiping the phone clean?

Boot into safe mode (long-press the power button, then long-press the Power icon, tap OK and the phone will restart in safe mode. See if that helps. If it does, it's some app that you've installed that's causing it. (Then the fun begins, trying to figure out when it started and what you installed before it did.)

If not (restart normally to get out of safe mode) try downloading the last Oreo ROM (Google | Factory Images for Nexus and Pixel Devices) and flashing it. You'll have to unlock the bootloader, so you might want to back everything up (Backing up an Android Device) first. (Or you might want to download the Pie ROM.)

No guarantees, but see if that helps.
