How do I open my calendar app on the month view, and not on the day view?

When I open the default calendar app on my Huawei P20 Pro it keeps opening on the day view - which is beyond irritating. I just want to have it open on the month view by default. I'm sure there must be a setting somewhere, I just can't seem to find it.

This is my first Huawei phone and it seems like so many important settings are buried away somewhere inane.
