Clearing "top contacts" on Moto G6

[Android Central Question]

I have a Moto G6 and the included message app lists "top contacts" icons when prompted to start a new text conversation. I would like to delete that list, but I have not found out a way to do it. I have cleared the data cache for the app, but that doesn't seem to work.

Any ideas on what to do here?
