I have set up a Microsoft Word template with drop down boxes and date pickers included for business purposes with the intention for use onsite. The only problem is that these drop down boxes and date pickers are not recognized as such reflecting only as standard text.

If there is an app that would allow me to use my template on an android device; I would love to know about it. Failing that, does anyone know if there is a reason that Android office apps cannot recognize the macros in the Microsoft Word .docm file?

No idea, but have you tried the official Microsoft Word app with a 365 account? The free app only offers limited functionality with the additional features only getting unlocked if you are paying for a 365 account.
