Android phone videos won't load into editing software

[Android Central Question]

Tried iPhoto, Final Cut Pro and VideoPad. Non would accept files. Loaded it into Prism file conversion software without success, as it reported 'could not open video stream from file'. File is shown as 'photos.google.com'.
Is there a workaround?

Do you have the file saved locally to your phone? Sounds like this might be in cloud storage...
