Do messaging apps automatically download?

[Android Central Question]

I have a Samsung j7 and I apparently have had messaging apps downloaded on my phone but did not download them myself. Can this happen with an update or through Facebook? Facebook and messenger are the only ones I have personally downloaded. Text me, hangouts, groupme, the SHIZZ are a couple that have popped up. Please help me!!!!!!

Welcome to Android Central! Apps shouldn't be installing without your approval. Hangouts used to be preinstalled on most Android phones, but I think this stopped a while ago. The other apps definitely wouldn't be preinstalled or automatically installed. Are you certain these apps are installed? In other words, do you see them in the App Drawer or in the Settings>Apps​ menu?
