Android Central Question

How do you add the option to use google pay from the lock screen instead of unlocking the phone and opening the app. Hope someone can help. Thanks

You shouldn't need to open the app, you should be able to just unlock the phone and move it near the reader. If you want to access the app to select which of several cards you want to use, you must unlock the phone first. This is a security requirement, likely requested by the banks supporting Android Pay.

my concern is exactly opposite. I can pay from my lock screen (without unlocking the phone).
But I dont like that -as its dangerous if you lose your phone anyone can tap and pay $100 (minimum before it need your card pin). i have had similar thing in the past with my card which got misused by doing 10 transactions of less than $100 - in Australia.

So I want Phone / google app to have a 1st level of defence where you cannot do any NFC payments if the phone is locked.

Currently what it have is no more secured than a card itself.

Fortunately my bank in Australia have this option if i use its mobile app for tap and pay - so i have switched to it till google pay brings that option as well

That's strange, because Google Pay isn't supposed to work unless the phone is unlocked. When you set it up, it requires you to have a screen lock method set up as well. Which phone do you have? You are talking about Google Pay, and not some other payment app, right?

just did a search and found that you can make payments without unlocking the phone but only up to certain amounts. In the US, it is 50 bucks. me learned something new :-)

you can always turn off nfc until ready to use. otherwise, I don't think there is a way to disable that feature
