Android Central Question

I see several answers about the clip tray... Nothing about a clip "tray"!

Hi! I found a partial answer and then I figured out how to use the clip tray.

When you hard press on any text, the clip tray option comes up. You will see all possible clips. On the right top corner you will see a pin, a trash can, and an X.
To save or delete clips, you simply press on the pin or the trash can. Then all or any of the items can be selected. When you are done with your selection, you press the check mark.
Done!

"clip tray" and "clipboard" are interchangeable. Some devices call it a clip tray, some call it a clipboard. They both places where items copied from one place (typically one item, some devices have additional functionality added as noted by the previous poster) and waiting to be pasted into another place.

The clipboard is normally a place in RAM that holds the last item you copied - until you restart or turn off. Some companies have written apps they call clip trays, that can hold more than one thing at a time. (Samsung does that instead of a clipboard.) But, as Hallux said, the terms are pretty much interchangeable - it depends on which one your device has.

Welcome to Android Central! I'd go as far as saying that the accepted generic term is "clipboard." Some phones have what the manufacturer calls a "Clip Tray," which is a modified clipboard, allowing multiple items to be saved at a time. I think it's an LG term, but not all LG phones have it.
