    Hey all,

I have a Huawei Y5 which I have had for a bit over a year, and the past week or so, I have not been able to access my mobile data when I have been out of the house. At home, I use wifi, and as soon as I walk in the door, my phone goes off with all the notifications I should have gotten when I've been out.

Since it would keep switching between wifi and data when i was at home, i would usually turn my data off when i was at home, then turn it on (and turn wifi off) when I was out, but not sure why this doesn't work anymore.

    Any suggestions?

Welcome to Android Central! Who's your carrier? Make sure your APN settings are still correct for that carrier.

I'm with Optus, and I have never changed my APN settings (they have always worked previously). How do I make sure they are "still correct"?

The APN is exactly as it should be for my phone and carrier

Then bring the phone into Optus and ask why the phone doesn't work with mobile data. You could be over your limit (whether you actually are or not - all that matters is whether they think you are), it could be that your account get messed up, it could be almost anything (even bad hardware - hope it's something else).

What model year is that Y5? I'm trying to compare the network bands it supports to what Optus offers. If the phone only supports one or two of Optus's bands, its mobile data connection might be unreliable, depending on where you are or what the status of the towers in your area is.

The phone is a 2017 model. I'm on prepaid, so I can't go over my limit. I am able to connect to Wifi (even my housemate's phone's hotspot) without a problem

Ok, I'm trying to figure out if the phone supports Optus's LTE bands, but the specs for the 2017 Y5 mention its LTE band support being for MYA-L03/L23 (FDD) and MYA-L02/L22 (FDD/TD) -- I'm not familiar with that terminology, and can't find anything on the web that explains it. https://consumer.huawei.com/ph/phones/y5-2017/specs/. I'm used to seeing LTE bands listed as band numbers and frequencies. Let me see if @Rukbat or any of the other Ambassadors know what it means.

Our Ambassador Co-Team Leader, belodion, showed me an article clarifying that the MYA numbers are actually the model numbers of the phone. So what the specs are saying is that the MYA-L03 and MYA-L23 models use certain FDD LTE bands, while the MYA-L02 and MYA-L22 models use both FDD and TDD bands. But I still can't find any online information stating which exact bands they use, which is the important thing.

LOL, glad you figured it out!

I think that word is censored because it's commonly used by trolls to flame (insult) other members -- you'll find that we try to discourage infantile behavior here. If you want to say that word, maybe use the Yosemite Sam spelling ("idgit").
