Photos taking up too much space

I have backed up my photos and videos and removed them all apart from four photos, but the storage is still saying 1.6gb photos and videos - am I going insane??? Can four photos be 1.6gb?!

They can be. Go to camera settings and see what size you have set for the photos by default. Not sure what phone and what storage you have. Heres my current photo size setting.

Thank you so much, I actually just went into the files and found all the WhatsApp photos I'd ever sent or received taking up loads of space - I had no idea!

If it's a 4k camera, the file size can get up to 64MB per picture, but that's still only512MB total. Are you sure it doesn't say 16MB? (That's 1,000 times smaller than 16GB.)

Thanks Rukbat, it's still saying 1.1gb despite the fact that there's no photos or videos saved on the phone anywhere! It's a mystery, but one that I can't solve right now.

It's a Samsung J5, the photos and videos are in the internal storage according to my storage settings taking up 1.5gb but when I navigate to the same folder through the files section it says the photos and videos take up 47.2mb. It's weird, I've moved a load of apps onto my sd card and that has eased the issue for now
