This appears to be a feature that most people would rather not have and I've tried doing the reverse of what people have suggested to turn this feature off; but my phone doesn't have anything in the accessibility settings to turn this feature on / off. I miss messages / text / voicemails all the time because my notifications go unread and I don't know they are there. I'd rather have a continuous reminder like my older (non-smart phone) I have an Android Turbo 2 phone.

How do you miss these notifications? You don't hear your phone ring or feel it vibrate? You should see the notifications at the top of your screen at the very least. Swipe down from the top of the screen to open the notification shade and you'll see all your notifications right there.
