Can't use Smartswitch to reinstall firmware.

Is there a replacement that you can use that does the same job from Samsung, or is it 2 fingers up to their customers if you have firmware issues on their phones. I can't get a straight answer anywhere on this. For every other device the manufacturer allows for this, including Apple. Why do Samsung think they should be different?
