Android Central Question

My Android randomly shuts down at various battery levels, even up to 90% if I have the screen brightness up. It doesn't given me a warning (powering down) and wont turn back on. When I try to turn it back on, it shows the battery is drained, but when I plug it into a power source it shows the battery still has charge. My husband thinks its because I've dropped it a few times (but with a silicone cover). I think it's just a bad battery. The problem is that it's a Sony and the battery is encased. Is it even possible to have a service center replace the battery?

Welcome to Android Central! That sounds like a failing battery. You'd have to bring it to a repair shop to replace the battery. If the phone is pretty old, you may want to consider upgrading to a new phone, since the cost of replacing the battery might not be worth it.

If it's pretty old, it also means any "new" battery may be old stock and already degrading. In which case, you'll still have similar issues. Maybe not as bad, but it means it wouldn't be a long term fix and cost more down the road.
