How do i add an app icon when it doesn't even show up on my app menu?

I have a couple of apps that are downloaded and working on my device, but there is no icon anywhere. Not on home screen and not on app menu. I tried reloading and no dice. One of them is my Gmail. I have to type in name to find it. How can I fix this. I tried using another inbox app, but it's not updating. I only get old stuff.

Have you looked in your app drawer? If it's there, long-press it, then move it and you should see your home screen. Move the app to there, and it will create a shortcut to the app on the home screen. (If it's not in the app drawer, the odds of the app running are slim to none.)

(I have no idea what you mean by "app menu".)
