Android Central Question

I have no problem getting the wifi hotspot feature to work on my Galaxy Note 8. However, I need to know what IP address is being assigned to a client that connects.

To explain, the device concerned is a unit containing an ESP8266 which runs as a server. In order to modify things on the device, and to download data from it, I need to connect via a browser. The problem is, I don't know what IP address has been assigned by the Note 8. There must surely be some way of discovering this?

In the phone's settings, you should be able to look it up. On Android 8 you might find it at
settings >> general >> about phone >> network >> ip address

On Samsung (in my case Note 10+), long-press the hotspot icon in the notifications tray, then look at "Connected Devices" in the bottom. Tap on the one that is of interest, and it opens a panel with IP and MAC addresses.
